  5. Please read this README file before you begin to work with 'MindMan'.
  6. It should help you to avoid any mistakes during the installation and
  7. gives you some hints to get familiar with 'MindMan'.

  16. 1. Installation
  17. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
  18. System Requirements:
  19.  
  20.     - IBM PC or 100 percent compatible
  21.     - Processor 80386 oder higher
  22.     - DOS 4.01 and Windows 3.1 or higher (e.g. WfW 3.11)
  23.     - 2 MB of available memory
  24.     - 600 KB free hard disk space
  25.  
  26. The installation is very easy. Choose the 'Run' command from the 'File' menu 
  27. of the Windows Program Manager. Enter the command line 'A:\SETUP' and
  28. excecute this command by pressing the ENTER key.
  29.  
  30. You will be prompted for the installation directory, which is by default
  31. 'C:\MINDMAN'. You can use the default path or you can enter a different
  32. directory. The rest of the installation runs automatically and takes
  33. about 2-4 minutes.

  35. Before you can edit your 'MindMan' files through the Windows File Manager
  36. you must
  37.    1. start 'MindMan' at least one time
  38.    2. map the file extension '.MMP' to the 'MindMan' application in
  39.       the File Manager.
  40.  
  41. If your installation directory remains on a network drive or if you are
  42. using a Windows network installation you must have write permissions on
  43. your installation directory and the Windows system directory. Please ask
  44. your system administrator about these details. There is no special
  45. network setup.
  46.  
  47. During the installation a logfile is written with all important actions of
  48. the installation. You can find this ASCII text file in your installation
  49. directory with the file name 'SETUP.LOG'.

  63. 2. First Steps with 'MindMan'
  64. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
  65. Before you start with 'MindMan', you should read the following 3 chapters
  66. in the online help:
  67.  
  68.     1. "Introduction to Mind-Maps(TM)"
  69.     2. "Overview of MindMan Operation"
  70.     3. Description of Menus -> Help Menu-> Using Help -> "Go on here"
  71.  
  72. The installation directory contains the following Mind-Map examples:
  73.  
  74.     EXHIBIT.MMP
  75.     WEDDING.MMP
  76.     HOLIDAYS.MMP
  77.  
  78. If you have a look at these Mind-Maps you will recognize immediately what
  79. a Mind-Map is and how it should look like.

  83. 3. Shareware Registration
  84. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
  85. MindMan is distributed as Shareware. The Shareware Version possesses the same
  86. functions as the registered product version, with the limitation that a
  87. maximum of 3 topics and 20 branches may be input (for all open MindMan
  88. documents together).

  90. The registration is not carried out directly with the Author, but with CZAR
  91. Software. CZAR Software is the registration site for USA and Canada.
  92. Registration may be done by mail, telephone, Fax or via CompuServe. If you
  93. register yourself, you will be sent the registered version immediately,
  94. which will not have any restrictions. In addition, you will be
  95. automatically informed if a new up-date of MindMan is produced.

  97. For registration, please use one of the attached text files in DOS-WORD
  98. Format, ('ORDERFRM.TXT'), and in WINWORD Format, ('ORDERFRM.DOC') or as
  99. ASCII Text, ('ORDERFRM.ASC'). These files are located in your installation
  100. directory. You only need to fill in your address, the number of copies
  101. required, and your preferred method of payment; print the text, then send
  102. it. The price of the registered MindMan Version is US$ 59.00.

  106. 4. Licence Agreement for the 'MindMan' Application
  107. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
  108. The licence conditions are valid for both the registered version and the
  109. Shareware version. By purchasing either the registered version or the
  110. Shareware version, the purchaser accepts all of the following licence
  111. conditions.

  113. All rights related to the program rest with the author. The registered
  114. program version may not be duplicated or resold without the express
  115. permission of the author. The Shareware version may be freely copied and
  116. passed on. The Shareware version may only be passed on in its entirety
  117. (all the files on the diskette). The program or parts of the program may
  118. not be modified. The author gives no guarantee that all parts of the
  119. program will function as intended. The author undertakes no liability for
  120. any damage (e.g. data loss) which may result from the use or installation
  121. of this program.

  123. One registered copy of 'MindMan' may either be used by a single person who
  124. uses the software personally on one or more computers, or installed on a
  125. single workstation used by multiple people. You are not allowed to use both
  126. methods. If 'MinMan' is installed on a network, you must be shure that
  127. there is a valid licence for each computer in the network from which
  128. 'MindMan' is used.

  131. LIMITED WARRANTIES

  133.     THE AUTHOR MICHAEL JETTER MAKES NO WARRANTY OR REPRESENTATION, EITHER
  134.     EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WITH RESPECT TO THIS SOFTWARE, ITS QUALITY,
  135.     PERFORMANCE, MERCHANTABILITY, OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.

  137.     IN NO EVENT WILL MICHAEL JETTER BE LIABLE FOR DIRECT OR INDIRECT,
  138.     SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES RESULTING FROM ANY DEFECT
